Our Practice

Retford Dental Centre is a modern and family-friendly 3-surgery practice which has been under the present ownership since 2003. It underwent a complete refurbishment in 2011. The modern facilities and the state of the art equipment allow the team to provide high qulaity dental care in a comfortable and relaxed environment. Our highly-skilled team consists of 4 dentists, 1 hygienist, 2 practice managers and 4 nurses.

Amongst other things the practice boasts an on-site car park, a ramp for easy access to the premises and a WC on the ground floor which is suitable for disabled patients. Two of the treatment rooms are also located on the ground floor for easy access.

The practice is registered with the Care Quality Commission. There is a dedicated room for decontamination of used instruments as per the Department of Health 'Best Practice' guidelines HTM01-05.

We offer our patients dental care as part of the NHS, on a PRIVATE basis or as part of RETFORD DENTAL PLAN. At present we are only able to accept new private and Retford Dental Plan patients. We operate a waiting list for patients wishing join as NHS patients.

Dr Thumilan Ganesh BDS(Lond) MJDF RCS(Eng)

Dr Ganesh qualified from King's Dental Institute (University of London) in 1996. After completing his foundation training in a practice in Romford, he joined a private practice in Hornchurch where he remained until 2003.

Dr Ganesh took over this practice in June 2003 from a retiring colleague. Due to an overwhelming demand for dental services in the local area, the practice underwent further expansion and two further treatment rooms were added within 2 years. The practice was renamed as Retford Dental Centre. In 2005 Dr Ganesh was appointed as a Foundation Trainer for new dental graduates and he fulfilled this role until 2015. Between 2004 and 2009 Dr Ganesh also worked with the local 'Sure Start Children's Centres' to run the popular 'Little Smiler Club' at the practice.

Dr Ganesh is committed to continuous professional development. He obtained a teaching qualification from the University of Bedfordshire to enhance his training role. He also obtained the MJDF diploma of the Faculty of General Dental Practice and completed postgraduate training in Implant dentistry. He is a member of the Association of Dental Implantology and is an accredited provider of CFAST and SMILE TRU tooth alignment.

Dr Parul Patel BDS (Newcastle)

Dr Patel qualified from Newcastle University in 1993. She joined our practice in 2021 as an Associate Dentist having worked long term in a number of practices in Essex and has over 28 years of clinical experience.

Dr Patel enjoys all aspects of general dentistry. She attends courses regularly to keep herself up to date with new developments and techniques. She believes in developing relationships with her patients which builds trust and confidence with them.

Dr Vikash Patel BDS(Cardiff) MJDF RCS(Eng)

Dr Patel qualified from the University of Cardiff in 2009 and joined the practice as a Foundation Dentist and, upon completion of his foundation training, he chose to remain in the practice as an Associate Dentist on a part-time basis.

Dr Patel has made tremendous progress in postgraduate education by completing the MJDF diploma of the Faculty of General Dental Practice and obtaining the Postgraduate Certificate in Restorative Dental Practice from UCL Eastman Dental Institute. He has a special interest in Cosmetic Dentistry including cosmetic bonding. Dr Patel is also an accredited CFAST and SMILE TRU provider.

Dr Krishni Malarnathan BDS(Lond)

Dr Malarnathan qulaified with honours from Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry in 2010. She joined the practice as a Foundation Dentist and, upon completion of her foundation training, chose to remain in the practice on a part-time basis.

Dr Malarnathan enjoys all aspects of general dentistry and is also an accredited CFAST and SMILE TRU provider.

Miss Sarah Brownlie

Sarah’s dental career started as a dental nurse in 2004. She went on to gain the Certificate in Oral Health Education in 2007 and then qualified as a dental hygienist with distinction from the University of Essex in 2010. Sarah is an integral member of our team and she works 2 days per week at the practice offering oral hygiene advice, professional cleaning, root surface debridement, air polishing and tooth whitening.
